Dr. DeGruy Inspires with Discussion on Trauma of Slavery and the Healing Road Ahead
“This isn’t going to be a warm and fuzzy talk,” Dr. Joy DeGruy told her audience in the packed Fontaine Auditorium at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, Tuesday, February 24.
DeGruy, the author of 2005’s seminal, “Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome: America’s Legacy of Enduring Injury and Healing,” served as the closing speaker in the University’s 2015 Black History Month celebration. This year’s theme focused on “Healing and Resilience.”
